Thanks - the Yairi is honestly the best sounding acoustic I've ever experienced, hands down. The nicer ones are not only dried and aged, but also 'sound seasoned', meaning they expose the instrument to sound energy to resonate and open them up...please consider trying one sometime

Thanks for the compliment on the 1537 g8r. Like so many others around here, the sunburst 1537's seem to be just a bit nicer than the naturals. I'm keeping my eyes open for a sunburst owner that might be interested in a trade.

Grif made the effort to come back to the OFC "ing" site and started a discussion group called "On The Edge" .
I don't know if you will run across it but I wanted to share my post with you.

The topic is "How to improve the OFC"

Thanks for the invite Grif.
Keep in mind that one man's improvement can be another man's compromise.

For a time I thought this "incident" would be the death of the OFC. Now I think there are better days to come. Perhaps this site can provide what the membership would like without compromiseing the original site. IMHO, many have po-pooed the restrictions of the original site without understanding them. There is a bigger picture to concider. The "company" does pay attention to the OFC. Do you recall when I mentioned something about a Fishman demonstration? An OFC exec read it, called up Fishman, and the presenter ended up getting FIRED because of my post.

Let me backtrack. I don't want anyone to think I have a complete understanding and knowledge of this factory/fan relationship. All I know that there is one and Miles and Al are doing what they need to do to keep that relationship healthy. They don't owe me an explanation of that situation, they just need me to understand that there is one.
I for one WANT to keep that relationship healthy. I LIKE the factory tour. I LIKE that we are thought of well enough to be paid attenion to. Although I don't think Rick Hall knows me by name I LIKE it that he recognises me and says hello at the tour. I LIKE to think that I can represent someone who Ovation is trying to satisfy as a customer.

Maybe the way to improve the OFC is understanding the OFC. Not just from your point of view in front of the screen but the point of view also from behind the screen.

Grif, maybe something different will happen over here. You have your own little board going. You intend it to be "on the edge". Maybe that can work. But to make it work I think you need to understand and and give some concideration to what tree this limb is branched off of.

I think... but I don't know for sure.... that Miles had a different vision of what this site would become. Maybe he did not push it in that direction or give us a good enough idea of what that was. Over the five years and almost 7 thousand posts I've learned not to expect an explantion. IT IS WHAT IT IS.
