note-to-self: don't try to be philosophical, before 7:00 AM.

The "bottoms-up" photo documents the neck block & upper bout being soaked, to loosen up the joint. Wheter I am fearless, or foolhardy, remains to be seen!

Gotta figure, if the neck-angle shifted about 2-degrees, over 40 years; it should be corrected by an opposite force, but accelerated by steam, moisture, clamping, & "put in traction", for about 2 weeks. I think an additional crossbrace under the fretboard extension may be helpful, and shouldn't affect the tone or resonance much. The bridge isn't bellied, anyhow. No cracks in the top. Pickguard has lifted, but that's no big deal. The tuners are long-gone, and I'm installing a set of Grovers, with mushroom-buttons.

There are goings-on in The Lab. Applying some "friendly persuasion" on the neck of an old Yamaha FG-75, 000-18 copy, circa 1970. One of the notorious "lawsuit era" instruments.

Guild Members,
I have inducted Trader Jim, as assayed by his sterling work, rebuilding/modifying the string rollers on the Academy KA-17. Excellent work, and probably less than five bucks for materials.
That's the spirit, TJ!!!

Got this off the internet:
The info I have found is that it was produced by the Jackson-Guldan Violin Company (Columbus, OH). They were in business from the 1920's through the late 1960's.
They produced some guitars in the 50's and early 60's and were distributed by Montgomery Wards.
The guitars were machine-crafted and mass produced, (using inexpensive materials). So, they probably are not very valuable, except perhaps to a collector.
The guitar still plays well enough though, and the deep tones actually surprised me when playing it.
Jackson-Guldan was a violin company, and I have seen circa 30's and 40's violins for sale on the web, at prices ranging from $100 to $1500 for a Stradivarius copy.
I doubt that a Chris Adjusto guitar in good condition would fetch much more than $50-$75. You might want to check the "Blue Book of Acoustic Guitars". The new editions come out every two years or so, I think.

The neck-adjustment screw arrangement. Sweet action. Neck is a bit narrow, but really fun to play.
